An elemental affliction is a condition caused by an elemental attack. There are ten total elemental afflictions, two for each element.


Petrifying[]

Petrifying damage represents a body's flesh slowly turning to stone. Certain situations can cause petrification spells to inflict the following status effect.

Petrifying Affliction

  • Ongoing 5 petrifying damage until they dispel or shrug it off.
  • If already taking ongoing petrifying damage, the target must immediately make a saving throw against that damage before applying this effect.

Force[]

Force damage represents invisible telekinetic blades or barriers which are impossibly sharp. Certain situations can cause force spells to inflict the following status effect.

Force Affliction

  • Bleeding 5 ongoing damage until they shrug it off, and the target is knocked prone.
  • If the target is already prone, maximize the original attack damage.

Cold[]

Cold damage represents frostbite and freezing. Certain situations can cause cold spells to inflict the following status effect.

Acid[]

Acid damage represents flesh dissolving under a powerful chemical attack. Certain situations can cause acid spells to inflict the following status effect.

  • Ongoing 5 acid damage, and a -1 penalty to all defenses until they dispel or shrug it off.
  • Each time the target takes this ongoing damage, their armor's armor bonus is reduced by 1, to a minimum of 0. This reduction lasts until they can repair their armor, even if they dispel or shrug off the ongoing damage.
  • If the target is already taking ongoing acid damage, they suffer a -2 penalty to all defenses until the end of your next turn.

Poison[]

Poison damage represents the body reacting negatively to a foreign substance, usually injected. Certain situations can cause poison spells to inflict the following status effect.

Psychic[]

Psychic damage represents damage to a creature's nervous system and morale. Certain situations can cause psychic spells to inflict the following status effect.

Psychic Arcane Affliction

  • The target is dazed until the end of your next turn.
  • If already dazed, the target becomes dominated until the end of your next turn.

Lightning[]

Lightning damage represents a powerful electric jolt. Certain situations can cause lightning spells to inflict the following status effect.

  • The target is dazed until the end of your next turn.
  • If already dazed, the target becomes stunned until they shrug it off.

Thunder[]

Thunder damage represents blasts of air and deep shaking sound. Certain situations can cause thunder spells to inflict the following status effect.

Radiant[]

Radiant damage represents flesh blistering and searing from intense light. Certain situations can cause radiant spells to inflict the following status effect.

  • The target becomes marked by you or an ally of your choice and grants advantage to you and your allies until the end of your next turn.
  • If already granting advantage, the target becomes dazed until the end of your next turn.
  • If already dazed, the target becomes blinded until they shrug it off.

Fire[]

Fire damage represents flesh cooking from incredible scorching heat. Certain situations can cause fire spells to inflict the following status effect.

Fire Arcane Affliction

  • Ongoing 10 fire damage until they dispel or shrug it off.
  • If already on fire, increase the amount of ongoing fire damage by 5.
