Per-Encounter actions, also called per-encounter feats, tend to be fatiguing, and so can only be used a limited number of times before you need to sit down and rest. Like at-will actions, per-encounter actions can be automatic, free, immediate, move, standard or extended.

Your character sheet has a meter to track the expenditure of your per-encounter and daily feats, which either looks like this:

ⓈⓇ Ⓒ①②③-ⒹⒹⒹ

or like this:

ⓈⓇ ⒸⒸ①②②③③

At level 0, only the first three per-encounter feat uses (ⓈⓇⒸ) are available to you. As you go up in level, higher ranked feat uses will become available, and you will be able to learn feats to perform at those ranks.

Second Wind[]

All characters gain the ability to perform their second wind once per encounter as a standard action, while they are in the full defense stance. Whenever you spend your second wind, you mark off the Ⓢ circle on your character sheet, and mark off one healing reserve circle, then regain hit points equal to your heal value. Certain powers, called invigorating feats, let you spend your second wind at other times to gain additional benefits. You may remove this mark after a short rest.

Racial Per-Encounter Feats[]

All characters gain the ability to perform one racial feat per encounter. When you perform a racial feat, mark off the 'Ⓡ' circle on your character sheet to indicate that you have expended it. If your class is one of your race's favored classes, you may also expend your Racial feat use to perform any Class feat that you know. You may remove this mark after a short rest.

Class Per-Encounter Feats[]

All characters gain the ability to perform one class feat per encounter at level 0. Characters who do not gain daily feats also gain the ability to perform a second Class feat at level 1. When you perform a class feat, mark off one of the 'Ⓒ' circles on your character sheet to indicate that you have expended it. You may remove this mark after a short rest, or when an invigorating feat allows you to regain your lowest-ranked per-encounter feat.

If your class is one of your race's favored classes, you may also expend your Class feat use to perform any Racial feat that you know.

Rank 1 Per-Encounter Feats[]

At level 1, all characters gain the ability to perform one Rank 1 feat per encounter. When you perform a Rank 1 feat, mark off one of the '①' circles on your character sheet to indicate that you have expended it. You may remove this mark after a short rest, or when an invigorating power allows you to regain your lowest-ranked per-encounter power.

You may also expend your Rank 1 feat use to perform any Class feat that you know; if your class is one of your race's favored classes, you may also expend your Rank 1 feat use to perform any Racial feat that you know.

Rank 2 Per-Encounter Feats[]

At level 3, all characters gain the ability to perform one Rank 2 feat per encounter. Characters who do not gain daily feats also gain the ability to perform a second Rank 2 feat at level 5. When you perform a Rank 2 feat, mark off one of the '②' circles on your character sheet to indicate that you have expended it. You may remove this mark after a short rest, or when an invigorating power allows you to regain your lowest-ranked per-encounter power.

You may also expend your Rank 2 feat use to perform any Rank 1 or Class feat that you know; if your class is one of your race's favored classes, you may also expend your Rank 2 feat use to perform any Racial feat that you know.

Rank 3 Per-Encounter Feats[]

At level 7, all characters gain the ability to perform one Rank 3 feat per encounter. Characters who do not gain daily feats also gain the ability to perform a second Rank 3 feat at level 9. When you perform a Rank 3 feat, mark off one of the '②' circles on your character sheet to indicate that you have expended it. You may remove this mark after a short rest, or when an invigorating power allows you to regain your lowest-ranked per-encounter power.

You may also expend your Rank 3 feat use to perform any Rank 2, Rank 1, or Class feat that you know; if your class is one of your race's favored classes, you may also expend your Rank 3 feat use to perform any Racial feat that you know.

Daily Feats[]

Ⓓ - Daily actions, also called daily feats, tend to be epic feats that take a good deal out of you, and so can only be used a limited number of times per day before you need a full night’s sleep to recharge. Like at-will and per-encounter actions, daily actions can be free, minor, move, standard or extended.

Not all classes gain daily feats. If you do, you may perform one daily feat per day at level 1. At level 5 you gain the ability to perform an additional daily feat per day, and at level 9 you gain the ability to perform a third daily feat per day.

When you perform a daily feat, mark off one of the 'Ⓓ' circles on your character sheet to indicate that you have expended it. You may remove these marks after an extended rest.

You may also expend your Daily feat use to perform any Ranked, Class or Racial feat that you know; this does not cause you to regain the use of that daily feat any faster.
